Land, minerals, construction projects, antiques, houses and others are the areas which the field of surveying covers. Surveying is a profession which encompasses many areas. There are skills that a chartered surveyor needs and if you want to be in a job like it then you have to possess these skills. Chartered surveyors can easily find employment in different fields.
Chartered building surveyors offer advice on the construction and design of new buildings and the remodeling and redesign of old buildings. Sometimes building surveyors are required to assess safety and health requirements and be engaged in the improvement and maintenance of buildings.
Advice for the development and sales of houses or apartments should be sought from the residential property surveyor. A construction surveyor is the one engage in the development of construction projects such as new houses or dams. When it comes to management and assessment of costs pertaining to building projects, it is the area of responsibility of the quantity surveyor.

You need to be good in negotiating, have skills in problems solving, have a methodical attitude, good at computers, with good written and spoken skills, a logical mind and give attention to details, ability to multitask and skills in management if you want to work as a surveyor. They should also have an interest in the environment and landscape and buildings, property and architecture.
